The Tells that A Player Gives While Playing Online

Are there actually any tells when you playing poker online that your opponent can pick up even though you are not face to face?

Can these tells work into your advantage?

The answer to both these questions is yes. Online poker tells are not the same as you would see when you are playing during a live tournament but those players that are perceptive enough can see these tells even if they are playing online.

Some of these poker tells are: You will notice while playing online that there are some boxes that are labeled "check", "fold", "raise any" or "call any". You can usually tell when a player has taken advantage on one of these boxes because their action is quick, meaning that they have not taken their time while putting in their bet. When a player playing online has pick up the "check", it will mean that he has a weak hand.

A quick wager is a sign of a weak hand and a delayed answer or action is a sign of a good hand. Observe on how much time that the player takes to execute his action. If you will have the chance to take a peek in their cards during a showdown, learn on what hand that they had a relatively slow bet and which hands that they played quickly. Sometimes you can see a tell on an opponent by checking on how they fold their hands. If they fold hands in succession, then the player could be a loose player.

These are not difficult and fast rules but for players who are not observant enough and do not vary their styles, you can pick some tells on how many hands that they will play. You can also pick some tells by keeping a close eye on the chat box. A player that continually talks while playing may be an easy target. If the player is silent throughout the game they may have a really good hand. If they continue to talk throughout the game they could be bluffing. One of the most clear tells both in an online game or in live tournaments is the amount of cash that they bet.

Players who bet big usually possess a good hand and those players that bet the least amount of cash probably have a weak hand. Some players have a lot of tells and they cannot disguise them easily. How much amount of that they bet is the best tell on what is the status of their hand.

Tells in an online poker game cannot always be compared to games in casino rooms but they are there. You just have to be observant enough and look for them. Observe the speed of the player, the amount that he bets, his exchanges during the game and the even the hands that he plays. Learn all of this and you will have a good chance in doing well in a game.
